I completed this three garment collection as my Sophomore Studio Project. This project is titled The Entanglement of Love and Loss. This collection encapsulates the true meaning of love and how you can love someone so much that is pains you when they are gone.
The design on the left is a matching top and pant set. The hooks and eyes that I hand sewed on display how you are attached to your loved ones and then they can be ripped away from you. Next, the dress has complete strips of boning running down to the bottom hem. The idea of this is that your loved ones shape your bones and hold you up through hard times, much like boningĀ in garments. Also, the boning can be restricting and people can feel restricted by love. The third garment is a jumpsuit that has a wrap around scarf to symbolize the continuous and all consuming love from your lost loved ones all around.
